Wake Foresters gather over dinner in Miami, Florida, on November 15, 2017 to discuss leadership and character.

A group of Wake Foresters gathered in Miami on November 15, 2017, to discuss leadership and character.

Throughout the evening, we shared stories of faith, family, survival and courage. Several themes resonated with the group including work ethic, respect, quiet character and resilience. We related to one another through our heritage, upbringing and parenting our own children. We discussed the challenges in teaching character to younger generations and the effects of social media versus face-to-face conversation. One quotation was especially impactful on our conversation: “The loss of gold is much; The loss of time is more; But the loss of honor is such a loss, that no man can restore.”
