Leadership & Character | London, England
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in London, England on June 4, 2018 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- The best displays of character and leadership often go unseen – and may be unexpected altogether – such as a handwritten letter to a teacher or an employee letting that individual know why they are special from someone (e.g. – parent, student, CEO) who has taken the time to know that person.
- Society’s self-sufficient evolution through technology, etc. has made reliance, empathy and trust less of a common element in communities than in generations past – open conversations such as these help to reverse course.
- You be the leader instead of expecting leadership to stem from another. Do something for someone you don’t have to do and own up to your mistakes when you make them.
- Embrace the goodness in the world no matter how challenging your life may be and resist complaining about your situation – do what you have to do to get to the best outcome for society.
- As it doesn’t cost anything to recognize good character among the Wake Forest student body, we should figure out a way to do so.
