Leadership & Character | Winston-Salem, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Winston-Salem, NC on July 26, 2018 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- In our evening, we talked about our family, friends and community members (on a local and global level), and the ways they exemplified and inspired good character.
- We talked about the importance of character traits such as kindness, compassion, empathy, respectfulness, humility and self-awareness. We also talked about character-defining moments that rise out of small or large acts or while in pursuit of a “greater good,” a more egalitarian and inclusive society – all truly in the spirit of Pro Humanitate.
- We talked about how to see and build character in others. Taking this back to Wake Forest, our ideas included encouraging students to lead a life in the spirit of Pro Humanitate, whether that be through running for political office or engaging in your community; fostering diversity and inclusion at Wake Forest and maintaining a global presence, while remaining connected to our heritage.
