Leadership & Character | Charlotte, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Charlotte, NC on August 28, 2018 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
We began our conversation by each sharing an example of a time we saw character in action. Whether it was a colleague, friend, family member, a neighbor, we each shared how these moments influenced our lives and have helped to build our own character.
A few recurring themes from our evening included:
- Taking charge and showing up when you’re needed
- Examples of impact, connection, intimacy, vulnerability, selflessness, connection, gratefulness, acceptance, perseverance and community
- A change of perspective within ourselves as we experienced this act of character
- The idea of quiet types of character that often include sacrifice and taking care of others
- The motto Pro Humanitate and its natural transition into the ideals of leadership & character
- The fact that it’s never too late to recognize great character. We agreed that taking time to prepare for our conversation by thinking about those we have seen exhibit good character was time well spent and that we should do it more often.
