Wellbeing | Houston, TX
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Houston, TX on September 19, 2018 to discuss Wellbeing.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- We discussed wellbeing as a holistic concept through shared examples of important people in our lives who exemplify this concept, whether a mentor, friend, coworker, or family member.
- Wellbeing is about connection and community. Our conversation continued to come back to these two key words that became a theme for the evening.
- Wellbeing can be practiced through ritual and discipline, but it can also be inherent in an individual.
- There are many obstacles to wellbeing – fear of failure, balancing who we need to be for ourselves and who we’re expected to be for others, or conflicting priorities (whether intentional or not).
- Some key words/phrases that came up during our personal takeaways included: connection, personal responsibility to self, gratitude, intentional relationships, community, inter-generational wellbeing, listening and learning from others, and being relentlessly positive.
