Leadership & Character | Houston, TX
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Houston, TX on October 18, 2018 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- Our stories highlighted great character as demonstrated in a wide range. Our takeaway was that great character is not binary, but rather is situational and relative to circumstance.
- We spoke of tragic times of natural disaster, when there isn’t time to think about how to act. Instead, those with character just “do.” Memories of Tropical Storm Allison and Hurricane Harvey certainly hit home for us in Houston. When so many are in need, it is even more evident that small acts have a big impact. In other words: Think Small, Act Big.
- Those with character are selfless, risk-taking, confident, “emulatable” and lead by example. At the end of the night, we defined character as simply the repeatable act of doing good.
