Leadership | Winston-Salem, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in the Worrell Professional Center on Thursday, October 4, 2018 to discuss Leadership.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- In summary, we shared very similar thoughts about leadership, while sharing a variety of leaders in our own lives. Key words about leaders that came out of our discussion were: courage, foresight/vision, uncomfortable, trusting those around you, empowering others, humility, kindness, barrier breaker, accountability, attitude of compassion and concern, sacrifice, secure/self-aware, authentic, fully engaged in the moment, doing without expecting anything in return, and consistent.
- The leaders we mentioned as examples, for the most part, are not in any sort of limelight and don’t seek the limelight.
- We all agreed that great leaders have an authenticity and sincerity. They do not do anything focused on themselves but more so for the good of the group, cause, or future.
- One surprising and unexpected takeaway from our conversation was that we see leadership in a variety of different people – from the top to the bottom. Perhaps people who have a lower title than we do at work, lower pay, etc. can be leaders if given the chance.
