Leadership | Winston-Salem, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in the Worrell Professional Center on Thursday, October 4, 2018 to discuss Leadership.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- During our conversation, the idea of tough love emerged frequently throughout many stories. For many, our respective leaders were family members, mentors, bosses, and colleagues – but all held very close to our hearts. How a leader treats others was a common thread – as we coined the term “people treatment”. Humility and respect were also commonly found values throughout our conversation.
- The debate of morality in leadership was a key part of our discussion – there have been famous leaders throughout history who led well but severely lacked morals.
- Trust and delegation were touched on multiple times – the sign of a great leader is someone who trusts his or her employees with the tasks given to them.
- Fierce conversation was another phrase we identified – honesty in identifying problems and consistency in following up and ensuring the problem is fixed.
- Quiet assurance and confidence in providing and understanding context in difficult situations is another trait we identified in good leaders.
