Leadership & Character | Mount Pleasant, SC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Mount Pleasant, SC on November 28, 2018 to discuss Leadership and Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- There was a lot of discussion about the different forms in which character can be displayed, with a focus on teachers and the military, as well as how we can teach others, particularly young people, good character. As part of that, many of us declared an intention to be more present with each other and our families, in an attempt to lead by example.
- We asked ourselves the question: Why are we programmed to look for the negative and have such difficulty noticing the good?
- We discussed grace, poise, and humility in the face of anger or adversity.
- People are more likely to listen and work together, if the person presenting the opinion or way forward is regarded as a person of good character.
- Character is all about doing what is right when it is difficult and when no one is looking, as well as truly caring about other people.
