Leadership & Character | Winston-Salem, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Winston-Salem, NC on November 30, 2018 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- Character can be seen just about anywhere—in the classroom, in our own homes, in a meeting with a stranger, even in politics. As we left the table, we all committed to being more observant and noticing the acts of character that take place around us every day.
- Risk taking came up throughout our conversation, particularly in examples of those who made a commitment to his or her values despite opposition or lack of support.
- The conversation frequently turned to the educational sector—its flaws and its merits. We all acknowledged how critical it is that we model character for children and teach by example (and reiterated our gratitude for the teachers who do this every single day).
