Women in Leadership I Winston Salem, NC
A group of students met at the Winston-Salem home of Dr. Holly Brower, Associate Professor in the School of Business, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, to discuss Women in Leadership.
Overview and highlights:
After delving into the prompt of how a woman’s leadership opportunity is perceived differently than a man’s, the following themes came up:
- Students felt women receive different treatment for similar acts noting the perception of when a woman leaves work early for family reasons v. a man
- The severe wage gap; a student noted a CEO making half the salary than a fellow CEO at a similar company
- Discussed fixing the infrastructure while promoting diversity and equity within companies
Students mentioned that men should be advocates for women in leadership and take the unfair advantage they were given to uplift women
