Community I Winston-Salem, NC
Members of the Campus Life Leadership team gathered over lunch in the Autumn Room on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, to discuss Community.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
After we all shared our stories, the themes that we shared included a sense of belonging and support, how the experience of the community touched our cores, a deep level of feelings, and a lack of judgment within the community.
- Finding a community and space where people “get it” and “get you”
- The importance of spending time and engaging with one another
- Seeing the level of generosity of others through their stories and narratives
- In times of crisis, we can experience true community
We concluded with some questions for further reflection:
How can face-to-face conversation and human connection strengthen our positions on campus, as well as the relatability and empathy we have for one another and our students? How will promoting a culture of meaningful dialogue help Wake Forest build an even stronger community?
