Leadership & Character | Richmond, VA
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Richmond, VA on December 6, 2018 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- Our group examined leadership and character in a variety of situations. Personal examples of leadership and character were shared by telling stories of individuals including a parent, grandparent, campus administrator and legendary coach, just to name a few.
- Several remarked about the recent passing of our nation’s 41st President, George H. W. Bush, and his outstanding character. Sarah shared Bush’s life code, as he once outlined in a letter to his mother, “Tell the truth. Don’t blame people. Be strong. Do your best. Try hard. Forgive. Stay the course. All that kind of thing.”
- Through stories and comments, our group demonstrated that real leadership requires empathy and the ability to listen. Kindness matters. The hard thing is usually the right thing. We expanded this idea to include examples of Pro Humanitate.
