Tradition | Miami Beach, FL
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Miami Beach, FL on December 2, 2018 to discuss Tradition.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- With our conversation taking place before Lovefeast, most of the conversation about tradition was about family holiday traditions. True to South Florida, it was beautiful to have a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and family traditions represented.
- We have unique and varied holiday traditions; from going out and cutting the frozen Christmas tree, Sunday morning doughnuts and beach time with a family member, to Hoppin’ John cooked for good luck in the New Year.
- There are ongoing family traditions like women keeping their last name when they marry, your home is always an open door, the importance of the entire family being together as part of the Cuban tradition.
- Tradition gives us something to look forward to as well as creating memories.
- We learned that you should not be afraid to cherish traditions that have a purpose, you can always start a new tradition, there is a commonality among us that makes us more alike than different.
