Leadership & Character | Greensboro, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Greenboro, NC on January 16, 2019 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and Highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- Character is shown when no one else is looking or without the expectation of being repaid
- A person of character has moral courage
- Valuing others even when they do not value you
- Character in action- by putting others before yourself
- The “ripple effect” of character
Our conversation continued and we pondered – can we teach character at Wake Forest? We can model character inside and outside of the classroom from faculty, staff, and students. We can put character into action with volunteerism. We can get to know people who are different than ourselves, build relationships, and learn from one another. We came to the conclusion that it is our responsibility and opportunity to teach and model leaders of character for current and future students of Wake Forest University. It’s organic to who we are and it’s transcendent and vital for our students.
