Leadership & Character | Newport Beach, CA
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Newport Beach, CA on January 25, 2019 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- We talked about stories of character that were either a “heroic” representation or “day to day” living out character.
- We asked ourselves: Is character an inborn quality or one that is developed?
- Social Media is playing a key role in the development of character but how have helicopter parents, constantly in surveillance mode and striving for high achievement, played a role in it?
- We discussed the quote: “You can’t understand someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes” by Atticus Finch in To Kill A Mocking Bird
- We concluded the evening with the idea that the “process of conversation” is where it starts.
