Leadership & Character | Washington, D.C.
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Washington, D.C. on January 18, 2019 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- We often see Character and Leadership displayed in those who possess an inviolate integrity that compels them to “do the right thing.”
- This integrity often comes “at a cost” to the leader, exposing oneself to risk of political, social, or professional repercussions.
- Leaders “know themselves” and simultaneously possess deep empathy for others, actively fighting isolation to be proximate and capable of self-sacrifice.
- Character is taught by example and learned by emulation; fear frequently drives us to abandon character.
