Greenwich, CT | Community
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Greenwich, CT on February 19, 2019 to discuss Community.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- We discussed how community arises from the most unexpected groups. Each participant’s personal experience with community was diverse and unique.
- The experiences shared ranged from;
- Starting a new job in a new place during a difficult time in life and meeting your best friend though this experience.
- Traveling to a new school with a diverse student body, overcoming anxiety at first, then quickly feeling you are part of a community.
Transitioning from the city to the suburbs, finding new friends on a tennis team, or a civic group or a new school for the children. The people you meet may be unfamiliar at first, but inevitably, people come together and grow together through good and bad times. - Experiencing a family tragedy and finding the people you work with rise up to support you in ways you could have never imagined.
- Being an underclassman on a varsity sport and finding the juniors and seniors who were “scary” become your biggest advocates and your dear friends.
