Leadership & Character | Locust Grove, GA
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Locust Grove, GA on February 8, 2019 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- While everyone had their definitions and examples of leadership in action, we all agreed that anyone could be a leader, including children, people throughout our organizations and most importantly – ourselves. We found that effective leaders are empathetic, compassionate, observant, demonstrate integrity, and bring out the best in others.
- We heard how one participant’s students light up for people when then they came into the room and encouraged us to do the same in order to make others feel special. One person shared the impact of a student who was always looking out for others – even when no one was watching.
- We discussed the quote of a lifetime, “You can either be a thermostat or a thermometer,” reminding us all of our agency.
