Leadership & Character | Menlo Park, CA
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Menlo Park, CA on February 13, 2019 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- Everyone shared a wonderful and personal story about a time they’ve seen character in action, including both personal and professional friends and colleagues. As a collective community we shared the following words that touch on the notion of character: gratitude, honesty, vulnerability, accountability, courage, honor, determination, integrity.
- One particularly poignant quote was shared, originally spoken by Mother Teresa: “None of us can do great things. But we can do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.”
- Character is how you act when no one is watching.
- We need to have more conversation and less “comments” – civil discourse means being willing to have your mind changed.
- The idea of resume virtues vs eulogy virtues. The notion of “what I have done, versus who I am.”
