Leadership & Character | Woodside, CA
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Woodside, CA on February 12, 2019 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- The following words came up during conversation that touch on the notion of character: courage, determination, adversity, integrity, humility, and honesty.
- The thought was introduced that character attracts character, and leaders hire people that see that in others. Organizations and schools can set the culture by setting the tone.
- Accepting personal responsibility and how you act when no one is watching exemplifies character.
- When thinking about whether character is something that is inherent versus learned, we collectively understood it can be both. But it’s important to own your narrative and own your mistakes. It is important to operate in a way that is consistent with what you believe.
