Community | Seattle, WA
A group of Wake Forest alumni and parents joined members of the greater Seattle community for dinner on March 20, 2019 to discuss the topic of Community.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- Our discussion began with an incredibly thought provoking question: to think about a community in which we have been both deeply known and deeply loved. Below are some of the takeaways that were particularly powerful:
- Love has overcome everything, despite our experiences and conflicts “getting in the way.” Just because you might not feel deeply loved that doesn’t mean you aren’t actually deeply loved
- We talked about the notion of checking in versus connecting – there is a big difference in the deep and authentic nature of connecting and simply having a surface level “status update”
- It is important to put ourselves in uncomfortable situations, and the importance of the dinner conversation was not lost on those in attendance. The human spirit is resilient.
