Leadership & Character | Bryn Mawr, PA
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Bryn Mawr, PA on March 7, 2019 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- In all, while it seemed we each approached the idea and definition of character from a different place, it felt like all our stories shared a few common themes. In particular, concepts around taking action when no one else would notice, accepting responsibility on behalf of others, and setting uncommon examples for others to follow.
- A point that created some conversation for us: Oftentimes, it’s truly painful to display character during a difficult time – sometimes so painful that we may regret standing up for and doing what we believe is right.
- We heard stories that contained a series of small acts that added up to greatness. It felt like all of us could identify with this concept and allowed us to grasp the idea of character in a different way.
- It seemed like during our conversation, we kept asking “Have you told that person?” when we discussed the impact a specific action had on us. What a powerful question to challenge us to share our gratitude back to the individuals providing that impact on us.
