Pro Humanitate | Elkin, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Elkin, NC on March 8, 2019 to discuss Pro Humanitate.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- We each shared stories about how we have seen Pro Humanitate (big and small) first hand in our lives through our jobs, our communities, and in our volunteer work. We found many common threads between our stories and felt more connected to people that we just met.
- Many of us shared stories how the spirit of Pro Humanitate drove our career choices. Each of us wanted to make an impact to those around us, even though sometimes, that impact might not be immediately known. We also discussed the importance of being present and in the moment, as many times, we do not know the paths that others around us are walking.
- We discussed some challenges to living out the Pro Humanitate spirit. One of the biggest challenges we discussed was income disparity and the struggles we see come from this.
- We talked about how listening, and conversations just like ours, are essential in making a difference in the politically-divided and tense world that we live in.
