A group of Wake Foresters and Greensboro community members gathered over dinner in Greensboro, NC on April 29, 2019 to discuss Community.

Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:

• Communities emerge from a variety of reasons, places, life chapters, and situations; yet the strongest community is created, actively and towards a higher purpose.
  • We often find ourselves in natural community, but how can we push ourselves to be intentional in broadening that definition?
  • While we disagreed about whether the young or the older at at fault, we recognized the need for inter-generational connection – and problem solving!
  • The pressure to showcase our best selves online and the individualism of American culture both contribute to a lack of authentic connection.
  • We valued being vulnerable and empathetic, seeing each as a way to honor our shared and common humanity.
