Growth | Winston-Salem, NC
A group of Wake Forest faculty and staff members gathered over lunch in Alumni Hall on the Reynolda Campus on April 16, 2019 to discuss Growth.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- We began by sharing about experiences that took us out of our personal comfort zones and how we grew from those experiences. Following this time of personal sharing, we continued to discuss the idea of growth, including (but not limited to) the following points:
- Personal growth often occurs when we face fears, take chances, learn from errors, and face new experiences.
- Quite often, growth is understood, noticed, or measured in retrospect.
- Can authentic growth be planned?
- Perhaps we can plan for the opportunity for growth by choosing to move into spaces out of our comfort zones.
- Choosing to stay in a comfort zone sometimes comes from a place of privilege.
- Empathy, confidence, and sacrifice can all lead to growth.
