Leadership & Character | Lake Forest, IL
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Lake Forest, IL on April 18, 2019 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- We all agreed that character often shows up in the little moments, sometimes unexpectedly and often goes unnoticed or is under appreciated.
- Common qualities of character seemed to be humility, kindness, integrity, resilience, courage, and vulnerability. Eulogy values vs. resume values.
- It was interesting that despite coming to the table from different backgrounds, we all shared similar thoughts and expectations about character. It is based on the moral groundwork laid by faith, family and role models.
- We all agreed that institutions play vital role in shaping character. We all felt that institutions need to foster polite and respectful discourse and lead the way rather than cower from uncomfortable topics.
