Leadership & Character | Charlotte, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Charlotte, NC on May 7, 2019 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- Our conversation was filled with examples of leadership shown by people in intimate moments where people went out of their way to serve or include others and some examples of leadership where people made life altering sacrifices.
- Some examples were:
- A son who went out of his way to include others that may have been different from the norm
- A grandmother who served others by doing things like cutting their hair even when she knew she might not get paid
- An accounting partner who lost a large client because they would not compromise their ethics
- A blind man who decided not to let his physical challenge slow him down – he lived and worked and thrived despite the difficulty
- The Dean of the Law School who gave time out of her schedule to help a student with a family law crisis
- People in our lives showed leadership often by doing not what was easiest, but by doing what was right and what they truly believed in.
