Leadership & Character | Durham, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Durham, NC on May 3, 2019 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- On May 3rd, we, a group of strangers who are connected by a relationship with Wake Forest, infiltrated the Duke campus to come together over dinner. We quickly dove into a substantial discussion of character like old friends.
- What we know intuitively is important to be reminded of, and we were – that we are more alike than different.
- Character is a matter of perspective: the same individual’s character may be positive to one person, negative to another.
- Failure, and dealing with the consequences, is important for developing character – are we letting students fail and fully learn from the experience?
- Character is a product of both nature and nurture, and we are thankful that Wake Forest sees character development as a central component in the undergraduate experience.
