Community | Sewickley, PA
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Sewickley, PA on June 25, 2019 to discuss Community.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- The stories shared were personal and insightful about communities that have made us feel valued, allowed us to find or rebuild ourselves, and pushed us out of our comfort zones. Throughout the duration of dinner, we discussed the importance of human interaction and being intentional in the communities we find ourselves in.
- One common theme was that trust and vulnerability in our communities can allow walls to come down and stretch us. Real growth can occur when we are stretched, challenged, and pushed out of our comfort zones.
- The topic of resume virtues versus eulogy virtues sparked a conversation that in this day in age we are in an empty pursuit of breadth over depth and how that often pulls us away from the very communities we already have and the ones we long to join.
- We also discussed how communities can have both positive and negative impact, but that it is ultimately important to go where you are celebrated and not just where you are tolerated.
