Pro Humanitate | Richmond, VA
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner on June 6, 2019 in Richmond, VA to discuss Pro Humanitate.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- Our conversation offered some wonderful insights, beginning with the value of slowing down from our hurried lives to focus undistracted on being together. Many told stories of the value of volunteering or having experiences in more diverse circumstances, neighborhoods or with people of different points of view. They expressed that this opened them up to empathy and perspectives beyond their own homogeneous communities.
- Feeling the support of a group inspired courage to deal with grief and take on new challenges.
- We shared stories of the power of people coming together, the power of being heard and listening to others who need to be heard and the inspiration to do good as adults so that the pain or confusion from our own childhoods isn’t repeated with a new generation.
