Your Third Act | Winston-Salem, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Winston-Salem, NC on June 1, 2019 as part of Camp Third Act to discuss career development and the “third act” of life.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- The themes of passion/calling, resilience, mentorship, and collaborations arose from many. One recurring theme was the collective value that our table seems to place on growing from collaboration and shared ideas/experiences while keeping in mind the importance of “passing it on” – learning and teaching simultaneously!
- Many of us spoke about the most salient transferrable skills that we have honed in our lives/careers. Even if the Third Act is taking you somewhere entirely different in terms of sector/function/lifestyle, these skills and traits will remain central: optimism, teaching skills, adaptability, and lightheartedness. One participant expressed a particularly poignant sentiment along the lines of “no experience is ever wasted.”
- The ideas of becoming lighthearted, visualizing the life you want, and “growing where you are planted” were discussed.
