Pro Humanitate | Charlottesville, VA
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Charlottesville, VA on July 11, 2019 to discuss Pro Humanitate.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- A theme of our discussion seemed to be that of giving. By giving – time, talent, wisdom, voice to the unheard, kindness, tangible gifts – we nourish the human spirit in others and in ourselves.
- Giving also opens us up to receiving – advice, gratitude, joy, knowledge, kindness, differing opinions, the opportunity and ability to stand up for others.
- “We are never too old to need, and never too old to give.”
- “Find someone else’s humanity and in turn find your own.”
- We seemed to agree that Wake is an institution that is “comfortable in its own skin” and that may enable its graduates to be comfortable in theirs, and able to look beyond themselves.
