A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Savannah, GA on September 17, 2019 to discuss Community.

We discussed the role of technology within community and how the generational differences influenced our opinions of technology. We discussed how new communities have formed due to internet access. These groups are formed more on the basis of common interest verses convenience and can place members all over the world.

Additionally, due to the internet and social media, we are able to keep up with people a lot easier, preserving the longevity of specific communities. There are a lot of pros to virtual communities that we mentioned, but we did note a few cons as well. These cons include a lack of authenticity and negative influence on mental health.
