Leadership & Character | Winston Salem, NC
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in Winston Salem, North Carolina, on February 22, 2018, to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- Our conversation touched on everything from the personal to the parabolic. Many stories were about small instances when someone went out of their way to care for another person. These were not necessarily “heroic” acts, instead little actions that stuck with each of us for years.
- Character is personal; there is an empathetic awareness present in each account.
- Based on many of your stories, character is often shown when one individual has power or influence over others. They use that power to show that they care about the people in lesser or lower positions or care about making an ethical choice.
- People of character create a sense of belonging for those around them, or set the tone for their work environment to be a place of honesty, honor, and caring.
- Character is infectious, seeing good character inspires others.
