Leadership & Character | West Orange, NJ
A group of Wake Foresters gathered over dinner in West Orange, NJ on October 23, 2018 to discuss Leadership & Character.
Overview and highlights of our Call to Conversation:
- Consistent themes that weaved through the conversation were: service leadership, seeing noteworthy examples of character in times of extreme adversity, doing the right thing when no one’s looking, a willingness to do something hard and not expected of you, taking care of others, and thoughtfulness.
- In exploring the intersection of leadership and character, the group agreed that individuals committing themselves to a larger purpose often provide great examples of character.
- We discussed the question, “Can we teach character and leadership?” The group seemed to gravitate to the idea that we can best teach character by modeling it – something near and dear to the spirit of Pro Humanitate.
